Caleb's Birthday (Late Post)

Here are some pics from Caleb's party.  The theme was, of course, tractors! Hence the yellow and green.  Green is Caleb's favorite color.  It was a real blessing to have my mom here during the preparation of the party.  She was a great helper.  Caleb was SO excited about the cake.  He could hardly stand the wait to eat it.  Josh grilled hot dogs and the weather was perfect.  We couldn't have asked for a better day.

How cute is that birthday boy?

One of his gifts from us was a stomp rocket.  It was great entertainment for the party, except that the kids had trouble sharing.  They shot it over our fence about 100 times and Josh had to retrieve it.  Poor guy!

I was so happy that Josh's dad was able to come to the party and our friendship family and my former Math department colleagues.

Here are some fun things about Caleb at age 3:  He is starting to get taller and thinner.  He still has that baby face, but his jeans definitely won't fit in the fall! He is still a great helper to daddy in the yard - he thinks he is so grown when wearing his fireman boots and gloves.  His favorite thing is digging in the yard and any chance at using one of Josh's tools.  Josh is great about including Caleb in his yard work. I'm seriously impressed by how long he stays outside and follows Josh around.  From watering trees to fixing chicken fences - the kid is a worker!I look forward to many more days "working" together in the yard as a family. I hope his enthusiasm continues when it is time to mow the yard in the hot summers :)

He is still a rather picky eater but lately has started to try new things such as eggs, tortellini, and bread with butter on it.  He really is pretty great about veggies - he loves broccoli, carrots, peas, peppers, and his favorite is green beans.  Guess I can't complain about pickiness too much.

Caleb is super affectionate and loves cuddling.  He is quite attached to his blankie and it is pretty cute. He also sucks his thumb.  Josh and Anna like to hide his blanket or run away with it to tease him - poor Caleb! He still takes a great nap and sleeps great at night.  He is totally potty trained and did that in the fall while he was still 2.  He was super easy to potty train and continues to do well.

He loves Andrew and Anna.  I just love watching the sibling bonds! He and Anna are the best of friends.  I try to give them 30 minutes of alone time in the morning and afternoon and afterwards they act like they haven't seen each other in days.  It is so cute! Caleb still calls her "Nana" and he really wants to be big like her!

Caleb is such a blessing to our family.  He makes me laugh EVERY day, throughout the day.  I seriously never know what he is going to come up to me wearing or doing - he loves hats, socks, accessories of all kinds.  He loves playing grown up and helps me in the kitchen anytime I get out the stool and let him.  CALEB JOSHUA SKINNER, we love you so much and thank God for you and how he has grown you into a big boy!

  1. I can't believe Caleb is already such a big boy and a good yard helper! Love that birthday cake, too, Ashley!
